Introduction to Multimedia & Web Design
  Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  1. Hand code site in HTML.
  2. Use an HTML Editing software like GoLive to create same site.
  3. Explain the concepts of document hierarchy, DOM, elements, attributes, objects, and properties.
  4. Employ HTML, CSS scripting and DHTML scripting.
  5. Identify and use web tool sites and HTML validators.
  6. Describe the skills that Web designers need in the industry.
  7. Explain and create the structure of information architecture and flowcharting.
  8. Display effective characteristics of working with clients, whether internal or external.
  9. Separate out the duties and responsibilities of Web design firms vs. Web design as a department within a corporation.
  10. Create a site as a result of meeting a desired goal, message, and atmosphere for that site.
  11. Outline and explain the important factors of usability in web design.
  12. Identify and implement usage of Web-safe color and graphics.
  13. Select the proper creation components for graphics and multimedia options for Web sites.
  14. Discuss the main issues in both publishing and publicizing Web sites: URLS and relative paths.
  15. Implement and explain the usages of FTP.
  16. Outline, explain and implement staging and testing procedures.
  17. Explain the operations and usages for search engines/meta tags.
  18. Identify the components and workings of browser rankings tools.
  19. Describe and create components that keep the site content fresh.
